🤝 Our 2019 winners join the icons
Dive into their stories on Google Arts & Culture

Our Index Award 2019 winners are now immortalised in the Google Arts & Culture history books, joining some of the world's most iconic pioneers in design, innovation and science.

The online exhibit Six Designs Changing How We Eat, Live and Play takes a deep-dive into our inspiring winner stories: from bacteria couture to food made from 'thin air'.

The newest exhibit joins our current 13 exhibits initially launched as part of Once Upon a Try - the most extensive online exhibition about inventions and discoveries ever curated.

From 110 renowned institutions across 23 countries, including The Index Project, Once Upon a Try pays tribute to "humanity's most significant leaps in science and technology, the visionaries that shaped our world, as well as epic fails and happy accidents".

The Index Project's stories feature a wide array of Index Award finalists and winners, from the biennale's debut in 2005 to the lastest cycle, providing a glimpse into our extensive design archive of almost 8,000 solutions.

Congratulations to our winners: Project Coelicolor by Faber Futures (Body), Marsha by AI SpaceFactory (Home), Pisces by SafetyNet Technologies (Work), Xbox Adaptive Controller by Microsoft (Play & Learning), Solein by Solar Foods (Community) and Thumy by Renata Souza Luque (People's Choice).
