SMARTBOX
Teaching algorithms with toys
How does it work?
"Smartbox" is a modular educational toy with a basic math algorithm for three to nine-year-olds which aims to help children rapidly improve their cognitive ability. The toy is based on the form of traditional building blocks, with four NFC algorithm modules. When the blocks are arranged in a certain pattern, the display module will display the answer of the corresponding algorithm and play an answer tone.
Why is it needed?
Teaching computer science and coding to students can often be a difficult task – many of the concepts and skills involved can seem dauntingly complex at first glance. This is often the case for algorithms, which are an essential part of computer science. Algorithms don’t have to be a challenge, though – there are a number of ways to make them simple to understand for students of all ages (Zenva).
How does it improve life?
SMARTBOX contributes to the need for more toys and educational games that introduces kids to the world of STEM.
