In 2019, we’re exploring the barriers low-income New Yorkers face in finding, acquiring, and retaining high-quality, affordable housing. As the gap between supply and demand for housing continues to grow, low-income families are hit the hardest by rising rents and falling vacancy rates. More than 350,000 low-income households pay more than half of their income towards rent, and in 2017, nearly 130,000 people were homeless for some portion of the year. While the situation is dire and the challenge staggering, we must find solutions. And with your help, we will.
