Keeping track of your energy consumption is tricky. And in this digital age, more and more electricity guzzlers are making themselves comfortable in our households. It’s also important to remember that we’re not the only ones who pay when we’re hit with a huge electricity bill at the end of the year. Although electricity is a clean and relatively safe form of energy, the generation and transmission of electricity has environmental impacts.

Yello Strom online electricity meter, by IDEO Germany, makes electricity bills and consumption more transparent for customers. The pleasant-looking casing has a yellow front cover. A semi-transparent LED displays the meter reading at first sight. The pulsing “sign of life” is a smart modern interpretation of the common meter wheel. 

The design language is based on Yello’s brand attributes: simple, positive, safe, smart, and low-priced. It transfers the Yello brand to the products in an emotional and comprehensible way – in the same way that Yello offers its customers in Germany the ability to save energy and money easily and without much effort: Energy efficiency made simple – and yellow.”
