The first Index Award was held in 2005, identifying the world’s most impactful and iconic sustainable solutions. Today, it continues to celebrate diversity, inspire hope and act as a catalyst for groundbreaking innovation.
Our biennial Award has inspired more than 10,000 proposals for design to improve life from more than 94 countries. Index Award 2023 will be the tenth edition and will take place on 28th September 2023.
Last year, we received 2,134 nominations from 92 countries for Index Award 2021. And this time around, we’re hoping to receive even more ingenious, diverse and brilliant #designtoimprovelife solutions.
We have five categories you can nominate designs in: Body, Home, Work, Play & Learning & Community. Within each of these categories, there’ll be one winner, making a total of five winners and a People’s Choice recipient.

We welcome all designs who’re looking to solve challenges within the categories of Body, Home, Work, Play & Learning and Community.
