Qaptis
Capturing CO2 before it leaves the vehicle
How does it work?
Qaptis' plug-in technology captures CO2 emissions directly at its source. Up to 90% of the emitted CO2 gets captured and then stored in a liquid form onboard. From there, the CO2 gets recycled in fuel, plastics, building materials, CO2 sequestration.
Why is it needed?
With more than 350mio trucks and nearly 100k ships worldwide, the freight industry is facing a massive challenge. It accounts for 10% of global emissions and hydrogen and electric alternatives are not ready to clean it all before decades from now.
How does it improve life?
Qaptis has solutions for both the truck and maritime industry with carbon capture kits. With this solution, trucks are turned into low-emission vehicles in a very short time and don't require users to switch to new fuels. According to Springwise, "Qaptis is supported by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment and has received a seed loan from the Foundation for Technological Innovation, as well as funds from a crowdfunding campaign. The company hopes to develop the technology in the form of a kit, which can be easily retrofitted to existing vehicles."
