We live in a world where less things are different, and different is what makes us unique and interesting. Personalized items come at a very high cost and its not accessible to everyone, and those that are accessible are commonly not the most sustainable and adequate options for the user. Besides, nowadays, there is less interrelation between people and objects from daily life. We don’t understand the things that surrounds us, we don't interact with them, and this leads to more irresponsible consumption, due to the lack of engagement and awareness. Unio is a modular furniture system that encourages interaction and allows for personalization. Comprised of three categories of units (main bodies, unions & components), users are able to adapt and personalize their environments. The materials; steel and pine wood, are highly recyclable and allow for more sustainable processes. These, along with flat-pack, individualization, and engagement, aim for a sustainable, circular-economy system.
