Amulya- Glow Currency Table
the furniture helps Elderly & person with Low Vision to identify objects kept on the table in Dark.
Amulya Glow Currency Table is an outcome of a Design Project for assisting elderly and persons with low vision to identify the objects(medicine, spectacles, etc) kept on the table top during low light/darkness. the process used is Material Driven Design (MDD develop by Prof.Elvin Karana) to use the SHREDDED CURRENCY NOTES as a possible material utilizing the materials inherent properties.
the table top has been cast with shredded currency notes, glow pigment and resin. the table top is very interactive as children can play around it drawing and creating shapes on its surface using a flash, while elderlies/ low vision persons can use it during low light. the table is especially helpful when the environment is newer for the users such as hotels. it can be backlight as well, while the glow feature works on absorbing ambient light and glows in the dark. the frame has been handmade out of finest teakwood. the entire project focuses on making unique furniture which is INCLUSIVE for all.
