1 in 3 women experience some form of sexual violence throughout their lifetime. 1 out of every 13 college aged individuals suspect having had a drink laced with a rape drug. 1 in 33 men experience some form of sexual violence throughout their lifetime. KnoNap is a cocktail napkin that is capable of testing for specific rape-drug presence. All someone has to do is place a few drops of their drink on a designated part of the napkin. If there is drug presence, there will be a color change around the saturated area. When creating a detection device for rape drugs, we wanted the tool to be: discreet, portable, gender-inclusive, and something that could be incorporated into any social setting. The issue of drug facilitated assault is NOT geographically isolated. It can affect anyone, anywhere, including while studying abroad, traveling internationally and domestically, drinking at the neighborhood bar, or socializing at college parties.
