3D printed prosthesis helping children, with attachable task-specific tools for creative activities
Munka is a prosthetic forearm that helps 5-7 years old children who have congenital absence of upper limbs due to Amniotic Band Syndrome. It is used for activities that enhance creativity and sensory abilities. With its detachable task-specific tools, it can be used in activities requiring the use of two hands effectively such as craft, stamping and playing with play dough. It thus enables children to socialize with peers without feeling incomplete. The tools are easily attached, allowing children to use without help of their parents. Since it is produced by 3D printing, it provides fast and low cost production which is especially suited to children, who are constantly growing. It also allows personalization by 3D printing.
