BIOMILQ is working to leverage their patented mammary biotechnology to make functional human milk components outside the body. By utilising the unique potential of human mammary cells and cell culture technology they hope to nourish healthier babies and bring more of the functional benefits of breast milk to early-life nutrition products. 

According to BIOMILQ's website: "We're fed up with feeling guilty about how we feed our babies. We're closing the nutritional gap between infant feeding options. Cow's milk is for baby cows, human milk is for baby humans. Parents already make so many trade offs, why should they compromise on early nutrition? Our product can shift demand away from dairy by providing a more sustainable option."

The company is women-owned, science-led, and mother-centered. BIOMILQ is on a mission to nourish healthier babies, empower parents through choice and contribute to a healthier planet. In June 2020, the company raised $3.5M in it's seed round, backed by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Blue Horizon Ventures, Purple Orange Ventures, and Shazi Visram. And in 2021, they successfully produced the world’s first cell-cultured human milk outside of the breast.
