Alternatives proposes a collaborative platform where individual or organisation can connect, practice and promote reusing materials to develop products as small as pen-stand to the scale of living unit. While creating high quality products by extending the life of material/object, main goal is to promote the culture of REUSE. In addition to design studio and workshop, Alternatives is designing an online platform - a scrap library - that would collect and share data of interesting scrap available to encourage users by giving them detailed information. The idea is to show people the potential of reuse and change the way they behave with waste. In the process intension is to intervene at multiple layers of the society – change the way people discard, ragpicker’s livelihood and skilled worker’s employment. Change the mindset towards choosing up-cycled products for intellectual and aesthetic reasons. Committed to convert scrap into desirables, and inspire others to do the same!
