Arthur Kay is an award-winning entrepreneur & designer who came up with the idea for bio-bean whilst studying architecture at The Bartlett, UCL. At an early stage, Arthur won the Mayor’s Low Carbon Prize, the first in a number of international awards which include winning €500,000 in the 2014 Postcode Lottery. Successfully raising over $3mn in financing to date, Arthur has built the bio-bean team to twenty people dedicated to closing the loop on coffee waste.
Arthur draws from both the worlds of art and science, and bio-bean is the result of the subsequent cross-fertilisation of ideas. Arthur speaks regularly and internationally on a range of topics including the circular economy and green energy, the future of urban design, creativity and entrepreneurship. Speaking venues have included Shell HQ, Wembley Stadium, TEDx Warwick, Houses of Parliament and Windsor Castle. He currently holds positions on a number of boards associated with Social Enterprise and Green Entrepreneurship. In 2013, Shell named him ‘the most innovative Entrepreneur of the Year’ and he was appointed as a ‘London Leader’.
