IJsfontein makes media interactive. We are convinced that people are naturally curious and intrinsically motivated to develop themselves. In our view, play is one of the most effective ways to encourage this natural behaviour.
Our projects have objectives ranging from creating awareness to education and from training to educational entertainment. Think, for instance, of a serious game as a training tool for (medical) staff, interactive exhibits and apps for museums or a cross platform digital method for primary education.

Into d'mentia
Into D’mentia is an interactive experience that creates understanding for people with dementia.
The pressure on (informal) caregivers who work with people with dementia is high. Especially for family members it’s hard to understand how this mental illness effects the behaviours of their loved ones. Often this leads to frustration and stress. Into D’mentia is build to help to create understanding. In a cosy open kitchen build in a mobile container, users are immersed in the world of someone with dementia. As a journalist wrote: ‘It’s the closest a sane person can get to dementia.‘ Without an exception the experience has an emotional impact on the people who visit: “I have experienced how unsafe, lonely, confused and sad you can be if you do not feel understood, heard and seen.” More understanding leads to better care. Into D'mentia has received great response from all over the world. The experiences will be translated to other countries. The story is based on interviews with informal caregivers and people with dementia and was developed with the aid of scientists.
