It allows web-users to see how their personal information and online activity is being collected and used by trackers on any webpage. In Ghosts, trackers appear as little ghosts which users can chase and defeat, while exploring the hidden depth of the web. Trackers are all the elements in a webpage that load from third-party websites, like ads, analytics tools for website publishers and beacons, which track user behavior. Ghosts not only highlights trackers that are otherwise invisible to the less tech-savvy, but it also tells the user what kind of information each is collecting, and why with a simple colour code.
