Stillbirths and birth asphyxia account for an estimated 2 million perinatal deaths every year. To reduce this, it is crucial to identify fetuses at risk in the last stages of labor. The Fetal Heart Rate (FHR) is the best indicator of the fetal condition. In low resource settings, where 99% of these deaths occur, the lack of proper equipment and the number of patients per provider makes it challenging to monitor FHR at the WHO recommended frequency. With a larger sensor, Moyo picks up FHR in a wide area and detects FHR 9 t?mes faster than handheld Dopplers. Moyo enables the provider to make t?mely obstetric interventions and eases the workload without interrupting existing routines. To increase reliability, Moyo can also measure maternal heart rate. For prolonged monitoring, its lightweight design allows free movement while attached to the mother. During prolonged monitoring, Moyo gives an alarm for the health worker and mother if FHR is not normal and can display 30min of FHR history.
