i²Cool
Electricity-free Cooling
How does it work?
The first product of i²Cool. iPaint is a daytime passive radiative cooling paint which can effectively reduce the surface temperature of buildings, and thus, lower the electricity consumption of cooling system in buildings.
Why is it needed?
To align with the Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050 which targets combating climate change and achieving carbon neutrality announced by the Hong Kong Government in October 2021. i2Cool endeavours to achieve the vision of "Zero-carbon Emissions ? Liveable City ? Sustainable Development", by easy applicable, low cost and high efficient products
How does it improve life?
iPaint is and energy-efficient and environmentally friendly cooling product to reduce the massive energy consumption of traditional air-conditioning systems and mitigate the cascading effects of climate change. iTextile is a textile achieving self-cooling based on radiative cooling technology. Hong Kong is in the sub-tropical region where the climate is very hot and humid. The hot weather causes a lot of problems such as heat stress and heatstroke. Additionally, the hot weather induces adverse effects on the economy due to limiting outdoor productivity events. Therefore, i²cool is developing the iTextile for use of different products such as clothes, umbrellas, shelters, curtains, masks and etc, to cool human bodies and indoor environments to mitigate the effect of heat stress, heatstroke, and undesired heating. The beneficiaries of the iTextile will be outdoor laborers, sports enthusiasts, and the public.
