Why is it needed?
We are constantly bombarded by altered images from media, brands, celebrities, and influencers that set unrealistic expectations about our own bodies. It has been linked to mental health issues, eating disorders, and body dysmorphia by setting unrealistic body ideals that are impossible to achieve.
It’s time for change.
How does it improve life?
We want to take a positive step to counter the overload of unethical retouching, social media filters, and ‘face-tuning’ apps by giving people a way to take back control. We’ve created a tool that gives people a way to protect their own body image, while communicating to the audience that the body in the image is real.
Our mission is to bring an end to unethical retouching whilst encouraging the fair and honest representation of people's faces, bodies and physical features. We want to encourage people to reveal their true self online and discourage the use of filters and editing software that portrays an unrealistic image of the human body. We believe that the use of these filters is partly responsible for growing rates of depression and body dysmorphia.
Body dysmorphia is a growing issue that affects both men and women. Although research is still limited, the growth in social media filters to alter a person's appearance is likely responsible.
