the sailing dome
the sailing dome is a pavilion made by reused and reusable elements.
It is the metaphor of the vessel sailing forever, touching the ports of the world, carrying the crews of the pioneers of sustainability.
The Sailing Dome has an extremely simple structure that employs three basic components: Reused and reusable stainless steel elements as structural frame; Reused and reusable sails as skin; Reused and reusable wooden pallets as deck.
The only energy used is that of primary production of components of the pavilion and its logistic. People are invited to discuss about and enjoy arts programs. Informal performances can take place on the deck. The basic concept of the “web-based reuse of building structures ” is the great message of The Sailing Dome.A REAL DEMOLITION OF THE DOME DOESN’T REALLY HAPPEN. NO FIRE CUTS, SCAPPING OR WASTE PRODUCTION IS EXPECTED.
EACH SINGLE COMPONENT IS DISMANTLED AND COMPLETELY RECOVERED AS REUSABLE ELEMENT FOR A NEW STRUCTURE. All the Sailing Dome components are transportable on a Courser Ferry.
