Escaping the Strange Loop
An interactive participatory experience of diverse stories about possible energy futures.
Our working prototype, ‘Escaping the Strange Loop’, is an interactive experience that showcases diverse stories about the role of energy - specifically fusion energy - in near and far futures by exploring its unpredictable and complex impacts on real life problems. ‘Escaping the Strange Loop’ is a participatory, interactive game experience where groups of participants learn about different kinds of futures they could create through their group decision-making by moving through different scales of impact in multiple “missions.”
We had the opportunity to work closely with physicists, economists and social scientists, learning about their future energy models. We then prototyped many possible ways of telling the stories behind the data - in space and in meaningful, tangible ways.
