With his label LIVABLE® designer Sep Verboom (°1990, Ghent) cooperates with traditional communities around the world. Together with local people Verboom creates projects in which crafts, social engagement, design and human contact beautifully merge. Line by line Verboom also integrates this knowledge into industries. Doing so, he wants to realise his final goal: a social, ecological and qualitative revolution of the traditional industries.
LIVABLE® works in close collaborations with creatives, communities and industries. A platform generating local and global participation with alternative solutions for our industries.
Our aim is an alternative solution for consumerism, where industries and consumers have their own responsibility, a conscious choice.
Future industries know their responsibility and have a conscious choice. Where profit is not only valued by economic terms, but in environmental and social impact as well.
Livable is a family of projects, encouraging collaboration. This means we welcome creatives, communites and industries to work together.

JIWI — Forest Generations
A livable collaboration in the Peruvian Amazon Basin, raising awareness on certified wood.
JIWI is fruit of Sep Verboom’s stay in the Peruvian Amazon, where the designer collaborated with local agents and Belgian NGO Bos+ on the theme of certified wood. Raising awareness is crucial concern, both in Peru and all around the world.
The outcome is a range of sustainable objects for the Peruvian market, alongside a publication. The aim is to create involvement and understanding by making the issue more transparent and accessible.
80% of the harvested Peruvian wood is for local consume, making it a challenge to design for the local market. We investigated the vital information to define an objects impact, four informative categories defined as ingredients: WHERE? WHAT? HOW? WHO?
The result is a collection of objects designed on and for the local market. Each object implements one of the “ingredients” to visualize and communicate the values of certified wood. Allowing our target groups to get in touch with the background and impact of the object in a playful and subtle way.
