Open Style Lab - Making Style Accessible with People with Disabilities
Our summer program improves quality of life for people with disabilities through wearable designs.
There are few spaces that creatively enable people with disabilities to perform to the best of their abilities. Open Style Lab (OSL), a 501c3 non-profit organization, dedicated to creating innovative lifestyle solutions for people with disability, implements an interdisciplinary model for creating such solutions. Our mission is to make style accessible through clothing design and wearable tech to remove the stigma of disability through (1) public events or workshops; (2)educational programs with people with disabilities research; (3)develop R&D to equip our community with the tools to make accessible by design. We designed a flagship summer program that joins designers, engineers, and rehabilitation therapists in a human-centric design process with people with disabilities, elderly, or injured to co-create stylish yet functional designs centered on self-expression like style.
