ROOD is a roadkill alert system which aims to mitigate the wild animal-vehicle collision by using IOT and object recognition technology. ROOD kit includes A dash cam an add-on device which connected to a database of roadkill hotspots. It can alert the driver to be aware when they're driving in the high-risk area. also, it empowers users to report the roadkill carcass GPS location and picture via the add-on device on the steering wheel and the dash cam. Through this system, the driver can aware of their responsibility as well as doing something good for the environment. For road authority, they can do the immediate response and further plans such as road infrastructure improvements, animal bridge or tunnel building, which can solve the problem permanently. Furthermore, ROOD allows the machine to learn how to recognise carcasses from the driver. In the future, this system can be embedded in the autonomous car which turns every single car to a data collector.
