MOSS - Energy Storage in Molten Salt
Storing renewable energy on a day-to-day or even week-to-week basis.
MOSS is a promising disruptive technology to bring The European Green Deal — Europe’s boldest utopia closer to reality. Heading towards a low-cost, zero-carbon energy system by 2050, requires a robust combination of renewable power and its long-term storage. The challenge is that even though renewable energy share is constantly increasing, we are not using its full potential. During the days when we have excess solar and wind power, we either export it, or simply waste it. Unfortunately, we are still missing affordable and large-scale energy storage which according to European Commission is a key piece in the sustainable energy puzzle. MOSS vision is to make 24/7 renewable energy available even under cloudy weather, windless days and nighttime. The design approach here lies not only within building a core technical solution that lies in a molten salt, but designing new viable marketplaces by bridging and aligning key stakeholders within the early stages of the innovation development.
