CREATIVE MEDITERRANEAN
CREATIVE MEDITERRANEAN - RESILIENCE TROUGHT CREATIVITY IN THE SOUTH OF MEDITERRANEAN COUNTRIES
The project involves seven South Mediterranean countries for the development of fourteen clusters of creative industries: from Algerian and Lebanese jewellery making or Moroccan wood carving to Tunisian pottery and Egyptian glass blowing. Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Lebanon, Palestine and Tunisia are the states involved in the project, developed by UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organisation) with the financial support of the Italian Development Cooperation and the European Union. It concerns an area economically afflicted by the threat of terrorism, in the belief that creativity is a mechanism of resilience and resistance to negative transformations; “Resilience through Creativity” is the central idea behind Creative Mediterranean. Products largely bound to tradition, those of a more contemporary design, and objects resulting from a fusion of local craftsmanship and digitalization.
