Fairphone makes a phone and drives a movement to inspire the industry to look at social and environmental issues in the supply chain. We challenge the standard supply chain in 4 areas: design, mining, manufacturing and life cycle. By creating a smartphone, we’re uncovering production systems, building new relationships between people and their products and starting conversations about what is truly fair. We’re leading by example to expand the market for products that put ethical values first.

The Fairphone inspires the industry to address social and environmental issues in the supply chain
The Fairphone is a symbol to motivate the industry to address social and environmental issues in the electronics supply chain. We work to create change in 4 areas: design, mining, manufacturing and life cycle.
We're using design to change the relationship between people and their phones. We want to empower people to regain control and ownership of technology by decreasing complexity and providing more transparency on how products are designed. We’re focusing on longevity and repairability to extend the phone’s usable life.
We made the first Fairphone easy to open and understand, with components like removable (and replaceable) batteries. We sell a selection of spare parts in our webshop and provide free repair manuals to allow users to repair their phone or replace the parts. The Fairphone has Dual-SIM capability, allowing users to switch between SIM cards, without the need to own two phones. It is shipped without a USB-charger since many people already have one.
