Clover
Techno-organic, solar-powered sustainable street lights.
Paris is known for its beautiful, art nouveau street lamps, but with Clover, French industrial designer Mathieu Lehanneur gave his lamps a contemporary spin. Although the wooden base looks hand carved, it’s actually digitally manufactured, with different wood grains used to represent specific cities within France. At the top, fixed aluminum domes distribute light from a series of efficient LEDs, which are powered by another, upward-facing dome that collects energy using solar panels. The resulting lamps, which resemble techno-organic trees as much as they do street lights, combine nature, technology, and great design in a package that is both admirably sustainable and quintessentially French.
