An educational pack that provides a framework to teach the foundations of maths by using a tree.
Due to the war and conflict in South Sudan, more than 800 educational infrastructures have been demolished since 2013. With the lack of classrooms in South Sudan and other rural parts of Africa, many schools operate outside and resort to ‘under the tree learning.’ Orbit is an educational pack that provides a framework to teach the foundations of maths by using the structure of a tree itself. Using the rope, students can make shapes around the tree. to connect the points, students can either hold hands or draw in the mud. The kit can also be used to learn angels. Eight students hold ropes that extend from the trunk, forming a large circle around the tree. The teacher shouts out the name of two random students and as a team the class have to workout what angel is between these students.
