FarmBot Genesis is humanity's first open-source CNC farming machine designed for at-home automated food production. FarmBot Genesis is the first FarmBot to be designed, prototyped, and manufactured. Genesis is designed to be a flexible FarmBot foundation for experimentation, prototyping, and hacking. The driving factors behind the design are simplicity, manufacturability, scalability, and hackability. FarmBot Genesis has many benefits. The machine operates based on programmed instructions and a detailed grid map of the garden plot and can, with exacting precision, plant seeds in perfect rows—a tiresome and sometimes backache-inducing task for a human farmer. Genesis also waters plants on a set schedule, monitors soil conditions, and even takes care of weeds. Sensors make it possible to leverage real-time data about soil. Additionally a camera monitors plant health—when it detects weeds, it removes them autonomously.
