Un-Scene from Turkey
Design case study that aims to promote that by thinking with design we can tackle complex problems.
The case study is developed by +37 Studio for Design, where design is not viewed as an end product, but rather as a process that identifies problems, creates stories, and unearths the unseen. The design team embarked on an 8-week journey on a designated route in rural regions of Turkey to hold an ethnographic design research. The aim was to gather real life insights and turn them into design opportunities and solutions. From the gathered insights, the focus was on three main design projects; each aiming to tackle one of the many major problems observed during the field trip. The design projects which focus on the issues of Involuntary migration, food waste and adult illiteracy represent how a design approach could be applied to create change where it is needed. Un-scene from Turkey was presented at Wanted Design during 2015 New York Design Week and received invitations from international collaborators to be presented and implemented.
