Jets Vacuum Toilet
A vacuum toilet for the environmentally conscious

Big brands and businesses are changing their mindsets when it comes to environmental issues. Minimising their ecological footprint by finding substitutes for plastic or cutting down resource use is being implemented across many areas.

Norwegian-based company Jets™ has decided to be a facilitator for these changes, so it’s convenient for their clients to make a sustainable adjustment. Their toilets, which are currently installed in at least every second ship equipped with vacuum sanitary systems, are one of those aesthetic, low-cost solutions that encourage businesses to do better.

At the core of the Jets Vacuum Toilet, is an innovative, gravity-defying technology called The Vacuumarator™. The pump, invented by Jets™ Group, is now the foundation of a global market for sanitary systems. It creates a vacuum that macerates sewage and discharges it in one operation. By replacing flushing with this vacuum technology, water consumption is reduced by up to 90%.

In addition to state-of-the-art tech and sustainability, the latest toilet, designed in collaborated with EGGS Design, focuses on the usability. It has no sharp edges, awkward corners or hard to reach mechanical fasteners. Both the seat and lid is fastened to the wall, creating ample room for cleaning behind the basin. The water surface within the basin is formed to prevent any possible splash-backs and the basin and seat are oval shaped and longer than normal, allowing for maximum ergonomic comfort, regardless of users’ body size.

Being a large-scale company with environmental awareness has paid off. Jet’s annual sales mount up to more than €40.8 million, of which, 80% are export sales. Jets are selling their toilets on all continents but, it doesn’t stop there. The company is now looking into new ways of using sewage as a valuable resource for biogas and fertiliser.
