VALKIA - a compact water purifier
A solar-powered water purifier designed to help people with limited access to pure water.
The purifier cleans all microbic contaminants off of the water with the combination of UVC light and glass-wool coated with titanium-oxide. This personal device is designed to be used in the extreme conditions of rural Africa and Asia. The people in these areas are commonly very poor, thus the product is designed so that the unit will not cost more than 10 euros.
The triangular shape of the device helps to protect the fragile components inside. The water pipes of the device are molded together with the inner structure and the lid to ensure waterproofness. The one-screw opening mechanism makes the device easy to assemble and maintain. The angle of the profile will provide sufficient solar radiation for the solar-panel to keep it running non-stop. When the device is turned on the UVC-light shines through the translucent shell indicating that the water coming through is cleansed.
