Bluebird
Bluebird is a software platform that helps brands produce low carbon + waste products.
How does it work?
Bluebird is designed to help companies implement sustainability in their products and find authentic sustainability stories. This means many different types of people within a company can use Bluebird since developing products & marketing is interdisciplinary. Bluebird is designed to work around existing product development workflows, which makes it easier for companies to implement it. Bluebird measure sustainability by evaluating a product’s carbon footprint and waste footprint. The carbon footprint methodology is derived from the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, the gold standard for computing carbon emissions. The waste footprint is examined by two factors: recyclability and degradability. Bluebird use the How2Recycle framework to measure recyclability. Then they make sure the product gets credit if its packaging is dissolvable or compostable, while also taking into account compostability and recycling rates for the types of materials used.
Why is it needed?
Bluebird is in business to decarbonize the consumer products industry, and believe that every brand can be sustainable, and every product can be carbon negative.
How does it improve life?
Bluebird helps brands to get an easier overview over where and how they can minimise the carbon footprint of their products. On average brands have decreased their carbon footprint by 78% using Bluebird.
