LAYER® is the world’s first shaped Organic Photovoltaic Cells. The technology is based on a unique manufacturing technique using digital printing. In the same way that an office printer uses graphic ink, Dracula Technologies print their LAYER® modules using functional ink that they have formulated themselves. LAYER® generates energy from ambient light because Dracula uses specific materials that harvest both natural and artificial light. Inkjet printing makes it possible to produce shapes or specific designs and print LAYER® on flexible supports that follow the curves. To formulate the photoactive inks, only organic materials are used. Moreover, LAYER® does not require rare earth elements.

LAYER® enables users to generate energy by harvesting ambient indoor light and will support devices for more than 10 years.

In May 2020, Dracula Technologies raised €2.2 million to pre-industrialize its LAYER® technology.
