Karst Stone Paper
Karst Stone Paper is 100% tree free paper, making it the most sustainable paper yet.
Why do notebooks need to be made out of trees? Why can’t our journals be waterproof? Why does the third largest industry in the world need to be responsible for creating so much waste? Made from 100% sustainably recycled stone, and without any bleaches or acids, Karst Stone Paper™ is rebuilt from first principles to be better than wood-pulp paper: more durable, more sustainable, and infinitely smoother to write, scribble, doodle or draw on. The stone paper is made by mixing calcium carbonate powder with a high quality, non-toxic, non-virgin resin. Heat and pressure are applied, and after many rotations through some extremely large and heavy rollers, the material is thin enough to be used as paper. The result is waterproof paper, that is 100% tree free that's also super for our environment. Each metric tonne of Karst Stone Paper saves 2,770 litres of water, 18 large timber trees, 950 kilograms of CO2 and 4720 kilowatts of energy.
