AddiFab is printing a Corona-proof world
AddiFab, a Danish 3D-printing pioneer, has teamed up with Danish emergency medicine specialist Michael Mølmer to create a PPE that protects front-line workers from exposure to airborne vira like Corona, Sars and Mers. But it's not just with visors that were developed and thought creatively. At AddiFab, after the Italian role model, a full-face snorkel mask was set to be transformed into a protective gear against Covid-19. AddiFab and chief medical officer Michael Mølmer set out to make adapters for the snorkel masks so they can be attached to a bacteria-blocking filter.
After just three weeks of development and testing in Denmark, AddiFab is now producing the newly developed filter adapter itself, and the first 2,000 pieces have been commissioned by McGill University Hospital in Canada. In addition, countries such as Italy, Spain, the United States, England, Belgium and Sweden have also expressed interest.
