Made by moths
A design project using moths to transform unwanted clothing into bio-waste material
Within the textile industry, mixed fibre textile waste is especially problematic to recycle, being often down-cycled or sent to landfills or incinerators. This project investigates the potential of clothes moths and their digestive enzymes as collaborators in selecting and breaking down keratin-based textile-waste Farming clothes moths, I can feed them with keratin-based textile waste, then I can collect their natural dust-like bio waste. This can be used to craft biodegradable artefacts that rather than pollute the environment will nurture it.
