TRANSITION TOWN
Transition Town is a social housing project that wants to explore and suggest experimental solutions
Transition Town is a research project that reads and interprets some emerging contemporary society features linked to the transience and insecurity, focusing on new living proposals. The design approach, based on Systemic and on the theory of complexity, considers experimental sustainable living sharing models based on shared spaces and services as well as on key concepts such as modularity, flexibility, figurative identity, sustainability and home automation. Transition Town is a social housing project that wants to explore and suggest experimental solutions of new urban typologies, capable of interpret and respond to certain entities emerging or emerged from social change, focusing on disadvantaged groups of population. Research concepts have been applied in the city of Pordenone. A temporary architecture has been built exactly in the place of the residents’ daily lives, in order to avoid discomfort, possible injuries and people maladjustment during a building renovation process.
