New Ways
mobile interface design for baby boomers
New ways of seeing mobile interface design for baby boomers New Ways… project redesigns the mobile interface for the pre-mobile generation. Born around the middle of the twentieth century, baby boomers are an age group distanced from today’s tech-immersed youth. By using gestures that replicate everyday physical actions, New Ways… allows users to apply their existing knowledge and behaviour to the operation of a smartphone. In addition, the interface replaces multi-step interactions with a friendlier single-step interaction - A to B, instead of A to B via C and D. By reducing the learning curve, New Ways… also reduces intimidation, making new technology accessible to all generations.
