The O initiative
Inspire people to drink tap water through art and community engagement #reduce #singleuse #plastic
I believe in the ability of art to create change. I was inspired by beautiful art sculptures around the city and wanted to design one that would encourage people to refill their water bottles rather than buy bottled water. The O initiative champions the eradication of bottled water and the reduction in the amount of plastic that ends up in our oceans. We do this through the O fountain, a redesigned, contemporary water refilling point. It functions as a platform for artists and a focal point for the community, creating a modern-day meeting place. The O fountain shape is organic and inviting. The curved contours project a message of unity and community, a contrast to the current stainless steel fountain options. Art is a tool to stimulate behaviour change by engaging emotion, which opens the door to behaviour change. The O initiative makes refilling your water bottle from a public fountain a sensory, user-friendly experience.
