OCD Empathy Kit
Confronting misconceptions about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder through interaction
Mental illnesses have long had their fair share of negative connotations and stigma. While awareness about mental health and mental illnesses have generally been on a rise, not all conversations surrounding this are properly informed. The undertone has merely shifted from that of purely stigma and prejudice to trivialisation and oversimplification, resulting in adverse consequences on the mental health community (i.e. those who live with mental illnesses). This empathy experience kit was designed in response to the trivialisation of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). Common obsessions and compulsions are translated into an auditory and interactive experience understandable by the layperson, in order to confront misconceptions of and foster understanding for the mental illness.
