Danger Perception Map
This map focuses on the difference between the perception and the truth of NYC safety.
Danger Perception Map started from late 2011 to 2012. The project was based on international students having the similar experience as mine, who have just moved to New York City from another country. After conducting surveys, I found it interesting that over half of the the students interviewed thought that NYC is dangerous. However, with some simple research, I discovered that NYC is much safer than commonly thought by interviewed students, and furthermore, that there is a misperception regarding the location of crimes. This work contains 2 maps: a danger perception map and a crime statistics map. In contrast, the map reveals the difference between perception and the truth.
