Laerdal Light
A robust, rechargeable light source designed for health workers in resource limited settings
Health workers in resource limited settings, from rural hospitals to refugee camps, struggle with poor lighting while performing duties such as emergency care for newborns and mothers. They often rely on light from candles, gas lamps or cheap electric torches. These are often unreliable, unsuitable, and require a second person to hold them. There is also a need for a focused beam of light for postnatal care such as laceration identification and repair.
Laerdal Light is a compact rechargeable light designed for health workers. Its focused task light can be strapped on the head or worn around the neck. In the ambient light mode, it can be hung from the roof or used as a table lamp. The two lighting modes with three brightness levels fit needs for different tasks. Laerdal Light is rechargeable from the main grid or a solar panel. It can provide light for up to 30 hours on a single charge depending on the lighting mode and brightness level.
