Ephemera. The children´s Hospice in the intercultural context
Project Ephemera is dealing the war conflicts through space design and dying process.
The main theme of my project is the role of architecture on the political events in society and its effects on the identity
and acts of two nations, who oppose each other in a century lasting conflict. I want to raise the question, if the built world
can positively effect the process of conflict resolution and reconciliation and if one can view architecture as
potential peacemaker.
It is the basic idea of my work that people, who are confronted with the existential extreme and tragic situation of
losing the own child find together through intime personal contact and everyday activities in the children´s hospice
„ Ephemera“.
Given the painful and sad circumstances prejudices and personal hostility could be overcome and possible mutuality
could be found. The children´s hospice is the architectural setting where a holistic therapy approach and professional
terminal care for the little patientes and their families is provided.Death does not involve nationality, culture, religion .
