BOTTLE REFUND BOX
Better recycling of deposit bottles and a life important income to homeless.
It is unworthy collecting bottles in the garbage. Unredeemed deposit bottles represents 140 million kr in Denmark. A deposit that often end up as hazardous waste or in nature.
KBHpant is working to
- create greater dignity around collecting bottles
- get even more deposit bottle returns for better recycling and
- get some of the 140 mio unredeemed deposit return to the homeless who live by collected bottles.
How does it work:
People in the public space with a deposit bottle can put the bottle in a “bottle deposit box”. The homeless can pick it up in the box whitout messing round in waste. For more dignity and vital income for homeless and the street minorities.
The model will be tested in bigger scale in Copenhagen in cooperation with the municipality of Copenhagen and Dansk Retursystem (Danish refund deposit system company).
