We make better meat directly through animal cells
How does it work?
Our obsession is inventing meat products that are tastier, more nutritious, and far more sustainable than meat from animals. Assessing ideal cell combinations to create the best products is our strength. We explore where others don't to find exciting flavours, textures and functions that are more delicious and nutritious than animal meat. The results? A new category of food that is sustainable, abundant, and irresistible.
We cultivate the perfect combination of cells for their ability to self-renew, and for ideal flavour, texture, and aromas. We add essential micronutrients that help create a tasty textured meat profile. It’s like your favourite recipe, but at a molecular level, providing quality, purity, and consistency better than any meat. Ever.
This is when we really get cooking. We place the cells inside our climate-controlled cultivators - creating a natural course of forming muscle, fat, and connective tissue in the safest way possible.
Why is it needed?
Global demand for meat is growing: over the past 50 years, meat production has more than tripled. The world now produces more than 340 million tonnes each year.
But the production of meat has large environmental impacts – increasing greenhouse gas emissions, agricultural land and freshwater use. One of the world’s most pressing challenges is to produce and consume meat, dairy and other protein products in a way that reduces its environmental impacts.
How does it improve life?
There are many reasons why cultured meats make sense, but our approach is different from every other company. We produce meat that is tastier, more nutritious, more sustainable, and ultimately more affordable than what we eat today. The future of food doesn’t have to be confusing and complicated; it’s here right now.
