Nilus
A technology to lower the cost of living for low-income people.
How does it work?
The company approaches the problem by three angles. Circularity - tap on food products at risk of being wasted. Community group byuing - Consolidate purchases of several families located in the same community, to lower the cost for all of them. Low intermediation - Sourcing products directly from suppliers, to lower intermediation costs.
Why is it needed?
The amount of land cultivated to produce food waste is equivalent to the surface of Mexico, Argenticna and Brazil combined. At the same time, 1 bn people live in slums. In these areas, healthy food is significantly more expensive and prices are unstable. A nutritious diet can be at least twice as expensive for basic staples.
How does it improve life?
By reducing waste and lowering cost of living for low-income communities, Nilus provides a win-win solution.
