Earth Funeral
Eco-conscious burials making nutrient soils for land restoration projects.
How does it work?
Soil transformation is a natural, environmentally-friendly alternative to burial and cremation. Over a 45-day process, a body is gently transformed into a cubic yard of nutrient-rich soil. Families choose how much soil they would like returned – to scatter or plant – and the remainder is sent to Olympic Peninsula conservation site for land restoration projects. Soil transformation is for nature lovers, conservationists, and for those who want to protect the planet for future generations.
Why is it needed?
The process of aquamation uses 400 gallons of water and can flow into main sewers. Cremation creates 532lbs Net CO2 emissions and has an output of CO2, harmful gasses, heavy metals including mercury. The Earth™ Soil Transformation process relies on renewable energy, uses only 40 gallons of water, has zero Net CO2 emissions and creates nutrient-rich soil used for land restoration.
How does it improve life?
Reviews on the website say: "The Earth team was so compassionate and efficient from beginning to end. I love the idea of transforming my dad, and his soil being used to help the earth. We could not be more pleased with the whole process. My dad would be very happy knowing how is family and his body were treated."
