Fat Macy's, better work, better food
A pathway towards independent living for young Londoner’s by training as chefs and front of house
We are a social enterprise serving delicious home cooked food and dining experiences at supper clubs, events and offices across London. We also train and support young Londoners living in temporary accommodation and help them move into their own homes. Since 2010, there has been a 50% rise in homelessness in England. Fat Macy’s overcomes this by creating a tailored work experience programme for our trainees. We use our profits to create a housing deposit scheme for our trainees. With every event, our trainees can gain real life work experience while saving securely for their futures. Our trainees volunteer their time at events and as they progress through the programme, can apply for small grants to cover the costs of small items they need, such as personal identification documents, clothes and shoes for interviews, and things for their new homes. At the end of the programme they can apply for a housing deposit grant.
