The Aeroslider
An experimental cross-continental train concept aimed to replace flying
Airlines aren’t the worst polluters in the world, but planes do account for an incredible 2.5% of the world’s carbon emissions. Strategic design consultancy Manyone is thinking about radical alternatives to flight. Their solution is the Aeroslider concept for future transportation. A high-speed terrestrial yet rail-less passenger system connecting the most populous cities on the European, African and Asian continents. The single-track system is designed to reduce construction costs and integrate with existing infrastructure in urban areas. Additionally, it puts a minimal strain on any environment with the loops allowing unobtrusive passage above irregular terrain, rivers and animal crossings. Whilst the design is experimental, it does make us turn our minds to how we might re-imagine the future of transportation.
